List of products by brand CHAMPAGNE A.R. LENOBLE
Founded in 1920 in Damery, in the Marne, Champagne A.R. Lenoble represents a particular vision of family Champagne: a disciplined 18-hectare vineyard, carefully identified crus, and a continuity of ambition that has endured across generations — and, since 2023, into distinguished new hands.
A century of family winemaking in Damery
Armand-Raphaël Graser established the House in 1920, giving it his initials and his exacting standards in equal measure. For more than a century, Champagne A.R. Lenoble remained a family affair, shaped by successive generations who resisted the consolidation that has absorbed so many independent Champagne Houses. In 2023, a significant chapter opened: the Belgian Frère-Gallienne family, already co-proprietors of Château Cheval Blanc in Saint-Émilion, acquired a majority stake in the House. This transition brings considerable resources and ambition to bear, whilst preserving the identity and scale that have always distinguished A.R. Lenoble from the grandes maisons. Damery, on the left bank of the Marne, sits at the heart of the appellation — a commune less celebrated than Épernay or Reims, but well-placed between the three great zones that define the House's vineyard.
Three chalk terroirs, one coherent vineyard
The 18 hectares farmed by Champagne A.R. Lenoble are spread across three of the Champagne appellation's most distinctive growing zones. On the Côte des Blancs, the deep chalk subsoils yield Chardonnay of notable finesse and mineral tension. The Montagne de Reims contributes Pinot Noir with structure and depth, drawn from Grand Cru and Premier Cru hillsides. The Vallée de la Marne rounds the palette with Pinot Meunier, adding breadth and fruit to the House's assemblages. This geographic spread is not incidental: it gives the winemaking team genuine flexibility in blending, allowing each cuvée to be built from complementary chalk expressions rather than a single terroir. The craie champenoise — the region's defining geological inheritance — runs beneath all three zones, lending the wines their characteristic freshness and ageing potential.
HVE certification and responsible viticulture
Champagne A.R. Lenoble holds HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification, France's highest national standard for sustainable viticulture. This accreditation covers biodiversity, plant protection strategy, fertilisation practices and water management — a meaningful commitment for a House working across multiple terroirs and appellations. It reflects a considered approach to the land rather than a marketing posture, and aligns with the expectations of the Frère-Gallienne family, whose involvement at Cheval Blanc has long been associated with precision and environmental responsibility.

Why we have selected Champagne A.R. Lenoble
We have listed Champagne A.R. Lenoble for three reasons that matter to us as a family merchant. First, the coherence of the vineyard: 18 hectares spread across Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites in three distinct chalk zones is a genuine asset, not a marketing claim — it gives the blends real complexity and traceability. Second, the HVE certification: in a region where sustainable viticulture is increasingly the standard rather than the exception, A.R. Lenoble has formalised its commitment at the highest national level. Third, the transition of 2023: the arrival of the Frère-Gallienne family brings the kind of long-term thinking and financial stability that allows a House of this scale to invest in quality without compromise. We recommend these wines to enthusiasts who appreciate Champagne with a clear identity — those who want to know where their wine comes from and why it tastes as it does. They pair particularly well with shellfish and fine fish dishes, and make considered gifts for those who look beyond the familiar grandes marques.
