List of products by brand DOMAINE SAGET LA PERRIERE

Based in Pouilly-sur-Loire since 1790, Domaine Saget la Perrière spans 360 hectares across the Loire Valley's finest appellations, from the Kimmeridgian clays of Pouilly to the flint soils of Sancerre. Now in its ninth generation, Jean-Louis, Arnaud and Laurent Saget have steered the entire estate to organic certification and HVE, working with Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its organic commitment at scale, the clarity of its terroir expression, and the consistent quality of its whites across Pouilly and Sancerre. A dependable Loire reference, equally at home in the cellar or on the table.

Founded in 1790 in Pouilly-sur-Loire, Domaine Saget la Perrière has grown into one of the Loire Valley's most significant estates, farming 360 hectares under organic certification across the region's most demanding appellations.

Nine generations rooted in the Loire

The story of Domaine Saget la Perrière begins at the close of the eighteenth century in Pouilly-sur-Loire, in the Nièvre département. For two centuries, the Saget family quietly built their presence on the Loire, generation after generation, without fanfare. The decisive turning point came in 1996, when Jean-Louis Saget — the ninth generation — acquired the Clos de La Perrière in Sancerre, giving the estate both its current name and a new ambition. Today, Jean-Louis is joined by his sons Arnaud and Laurent, and together they oversee one of the most extensive family-owned vineyard holdings in the entire Loire Valley.

Terroirs of exceptional diversity

With 360 hectares spread across multiple appellations, the estate draws on a remarkable range of soils. In Pouilly-sur-Loire, the vines are planted on Kimmeridgian clay-limestone — the same geological formation that gives the great Chablis its mineral backbone — lending the Sauvignon Blanc wines their characteristic precision and length. In Sancerre, the estate works both the celebrated silex (flint) soils and the terres blanches, the pale Kimmeridgian marl that produces rounder, more textured whites. Further west, in Anjou, the estate cultivates schist soils, which suit Cabernet Franc and Chenin Blanc particularly well, bringing freshness and a distinctive mineral tension to the reds and whites alike. This diversity of terroir across a single estate is rare at this scale in the Loire, and it underpins the breadth of the range.

Organic farming and HVE certification

Across all 360 hectares, the estate is certified under Agriculture Biologique (organic) and holds Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification — a meaningful commitment for an estate of this size. Conducting organic viticulture at scale demands both logistical discipline and genuine conviction, and the Saget family have demonstrated both. The grape varieties cultivated reflect the Loire's full identity: Sauvignon Blanc and Melon de Bourgogne for the whites, Pinot Noir and Gamay for the reds, Cabernet Franc for the structured reds and rosés of Anjou, and Chenin Blanc for the full spectrum from dry to sweet.

The wine range

The estate produces wines across all four colours, covering the Loire's most celebrated appellations:

  • White wines — Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre blanc from Sauvignon Blanc; dry and off-dry Anjou blanc from Chenin Blanc; Muscadet from Melon de Bourgogne
  • Red wines — Sancerre rouge and Anjou rouge from Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc; Touraine rouge from Gamay
  • Rosé wines — Anjou rosé and Sancerre rosé, fresh and precise, from Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc
  • Sparkling wines — Crémant de Loire and other effervescent cuvées, produced using the traditional method

Why we have selected Domaine Saget la Perrière

At Halles Quercamps, we have been listing Domaine Saget la Perrière because it answers a question we are often asked: where does one find a reliable, terroir-driven Loire producer that covers the full range of the valley's appellations without compromising on quality or farming ethics? The organic and HVE certifications across 360 hectares speak to a seriousness of purpose that we respect. The Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre whites, in particular, offer the kind of mineral clarity and varietal precision that confirms why these appellations remain benchmarks for Sauvignon Blanc. We recommend this estate to confirmed Loire enthusiasts looking to explore the valley's diversity, as well as to those building a cellar around food-friendly whites. The Sancerre blanc pairs beautifully with goat's cheese and fine fish; the Anjou rouge, with its Cabernet Franc backbone, is a natural companion to roast lamb or charcuterie.
