List of products by brand LA GRANGE TIPHAINE

Settled on the slopes of Amboise in Indre-et-Loire, La Grange Tiphaine farms 16 hectares of silex, clay and tuffeau soils at the heart of the Montlouis-sur-Loire appellation. Founded in the late nineteenth century, the estate passed to Damien Delecheneau in 2002 — fifth generation — who achieved organic certification in 2007 and converted fully to biodynamics by 2014. Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, Côt and Grolleau yield whites, reds, rosés and sparkling wines of real precision. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for the rigour of its viticulture, the mineral tension of its tuffeau terroir, and the quiet determination of Coralie and Damien Delecheneau. A reference for honest Chenin Blanc.

La Grange Tiphaine represents some of the most precise winemaking the Loire Valley has to offer: terroir-driven wines farmed biodynamically on the limestone slopes of Amboise, where tuffeau bedrock lends each vintage its characteristic mineral tension and clarity.

A family estate rooted in the tuffeau of Amboise

The estate was founded in the late nineteenth century by Alfonse Delecheneau, in that stretch of Indre-et-Loire where the Loire and the Amasse converge, between Amboise and Montlouis-sur-Loire. Five generations on, it was Damien Delecheneau who took the reins in 2002 at the age of twenty-two — a decision that would prove transformative. Working alongside his partner Coralie, Damien brought both youthful energy and deep-rooted conviction to an estate that already had strong foundations. The name itself, La Grange Tiphaine, carries local history: Tiphaine de Raguenel was the wife of Bertrand du Guesclin, the celebrated fourteenth-century Breton knight, and the couple are said to have owned property in this very corner of the Loire.

Terroir: silex, clay and the calcaire tuffeau

The estate covers 16 hectares, planted on a mosaic of soils — silex, argile and limon over a deep subsoil of calcaire tuffeau, the soft, cream-coloured limestone that defines the architecture and the viticulture of this part of the Loire. The oldest vines occupy south-facing slopes (coteaux sud), where full exposure concentrates fruit and preserves the natural acidity that Chenin Blanc demands. This combination of warm exposure and cool, mineral-rich subsoil is what gives the wines of La Grange Tiphaine their particular balance: ripe yet taut, generous yet precise.

Organic and biodynamic certification

Damien began the conversion to organic farming almost immediately after taking over, achieving certified organic status in 2007. The estate then went further, adopting biodynamic practices and receiving biodynamic certification in 2014. This is not a marketing posture: the commitment is visible in the vineyard, in the health of the soils and in the vitality of the wines. Damien's engagement with the appellation extends beyond his own estate — he currently serves as president of the AOC Montlouis-sur-Loire, a role that speaks to the respect he commands among his peers in the Loire Valley.

The wine range at La Grange Tiphaine

The estate works with a broad palette of Loire grape varieties, producing wines across all four colours. The range reflects both the diversity of the terroir and Damien and Coralie's refusal to be confined to a single style.

  • White wines (Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc): the heart of the estate, ranging from dry and mineral to off-dry and richly textured, always underpinned by the tension of tuffeau.
  • Sparkling wines (Chenin Blanc): méthode traditionnelle effervescents of real finesse, among the most characterful in the appellation.
  • Red wines (Cabernet Franc, Côt / Malbec, Gamay): supple, aromatic reds with a distinctly Loire character — fresh, earthy and well-defined.
  • Rosé (Grolleau, Cabernet Franc): dry, precise rosés that reflect the same rigour applied across the entire range.

Why we have selected La Grange Tiphaine

At Halles Quercamps, we have listed La Grange Tiphaine for three reasons that matter to us as wine merchants. First, the integrity of the viticulture: organic since 2007, biodynamic since 2014, with no shortcuts and no compromise. Second, the singularity of the terroir: tuffeau is one of the great subsoils of the Loire, and few estates express it with this degree of clarity and consistency. Third, the human story — Damien Delecheneau took on a family estate at twenty-two and has built it into one of the reference addresses of Montlouis-sur-Loire, earning the presidency of the appellation along the way.

We recommend these wines to enthusiasts who appreciate Chenin Blanc in its full range of expression, from bone-dry to gently off-dry, and to those who enjoy exploring the Loire beyond the obvious names. At the table, the whites pair beautifully with freshwater fish, goat's cheese from the Loire and delicate poultry dishes; the reds and rosés suit charcuterie, light game and the rillettes for which the Touraine is rightly famous.
