List of products by brand CHAMPAGNE DELAVENNE PERE & FILS

Based in Bouzy, one of the Montagne de Reims' seventeen Grand Cru villages, Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils cultivates 9 hectares of chalk-based vineyards across Bouzy, Ambonnay and Cramant, currently in organic conversion. Founded in 1920, the House has been led since 2008 by Jean-Christophe and Maëlle Delavenne, the fourth generation, who have steered it towards a more terroir-driven approach on these expressive chalky soils. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this House for the precision of its Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blends, the mineral clarity that Bouzy's chalk imparts, and the integrity of its organic conversion commitment. Champagnes of real character, firmly rooted in one of the Marne's most celebrated villages.

Established in Bouzy, one of the few villages to hold Grand Cru status on the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils represents over a century of Champenois viticulture practised by a single family on some of the appellation's most expressive chalk soils.

A century of roots in Bouzy Grand Cru

Founded in 1920, Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils has been built generation by generation on the chalky hillsides of Bouzy, a village classified at 100% in the Champagne Grand Cru scale — one of only seventeen to hold that distinction. Since 2008, Jean-Christophe and Maëlle Delavenne have led the House as its fourth generation, bringing with them a clear ambition: to honour the terroir that their great-grandparents first cultivated while adapting the estate's practices to the demands of contemporary viticulture.

Nine hectares across three Grand Cru communes

The House works 9 hectares of vines spread across three of the Marne's most prestigious addresses: Bouzy, Ambonnay and Cramant. This spread is significant. Bouzy and Ambonnay, both Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims, are the heartland of Pinot Noir in Champagne — structured, vinous, with the depth that chalk and mid-slope exposure bring to a late-ripening variety. Cramant, a Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs, contributes Chardonnay of a quite different register: taut, mineral, with the fine bead and long finish that the region's purest chalk delivers. The vineyards are planted on coteaux calcaires — classic chalky hillsides with mid-slope exposures that favour even ripening and retain freshness even in warmer vintages.

Organic conversion and a commitment to the land

Since 2008, the Delavenne family has engaged the House in organic conversion, a meaningful step in a region where the density of plantings and the pressure of disease can make chemical-free viticulture genuinely demanding. This commitment reflects a broader philosophy: that the mineral character of Bouzy's chalk should speak clearly in the glass, unencumbered by inputs that mask rather than express the terroir. The conversion is ongoing, and it informs every decision in the vineyard, from canopy management to harvest timing.

The wine range

Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils produces wines across three styles, each drawing on the complementary characters of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from their Grand Cru parcels:

  • Champagne (Effervescent) — the core of the range; blends of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay expressing the mineral depth and vinosity of Bouzy and Ambonnay, with the freshness of Cramant in support.
  • Champagne Rosé — structured and precise, rooted in the Pinot Noir dominance of the Montagne de Reims terroir.
  • Bouzy Rouge — a still red wine from Pinot Noir, one of the rare and sought-after still reds that Bouzy Grand Cru is historically entitled to produce under the Champagne appellation framework.

Why we have selected Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils

At Halles Quercamps, we are drawn to Champagne producers who can articulate their terroir rather than simply their brand. Champagne Delavenne Père & Fils does exactly that. The combination of three Grand Cru communes, a century of family continuity, and a genuine organic conversion programme gives these wines a coherence and honesty that we find compelling. The chalk-driven minerality is consistent across the range, and the Pinot Noir character from Bouzy and Ambonnay lends a vinous depth that distinguishes them from lighter, more commercial styles.

We recommend these Champagnes to enthusiasts who already know the appellation well and are looking beyond the grandes marques — to those who want to understand what Grand Cru Champagne tastes like when it comes from a single family's carefully tended parcels. At table, they pair beautifully with roast poultry, aged hard cheeses, or simply as an aperitif where the conversation deserves something thoughtful in the glass. The Bouzy Rouge, for its part, is a rare find: a still Pinot Noir from one of Champagne's most celebrated villages, worth seeking out by any serious collector.
