List of products by brand CHATEAU NOAILLAC

Situated at Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac in the northern Médoc, Château Noaillac extends across 46 hectares of Garonnais and Pyrenean gravel, producing red, rosé and white wines under the Médoc appellation. Acquired in 1981 by Marc and Xavier Pagès on entirely abandoned land, the château was replanted from scratch and has since risen to Cru Bourgeois Supérieur status in 2018, now guided by Damien Pagès, the family's third generation. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its HVE-certified viticulture, the distinctive character of its gravelly ridges, and the consistent quality of its Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon-led reds. A Médoc of genuine substance, rooted firmly in its terroir.

Château Noaillac is a story of patient reconstruction: acquired in 1981 by the Pagès family on land that had fallen entirely into disuse, this 46-hectare Médoc château has been built up methodically, vine row by vine row, earning Cru Bourgeois Supérieur classification in 2018.

A gravel terroir in the heart of the Médoc

Located at Jau-Dignac-et-Loirac in the northern Médoc, Château Noaillac sits on Garonnais and Pyrenean graves arranged in well-drained gravelly ridges — the classic foundation of great Médoc viticulture. These free-draining soils, warmed by the sun and naturally stress-inducing for the vine, encourage deep rooting and produce wines of genuine concentration and freshness. The 46-hectare vineyard is planted principally with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, a blend that reflects both the terroir and the family's measured approach to assemblage.

Three generations of family commitment

When Marc and Xavier Pagès took on Château Noaillac in 1981, they inherited not a going concern but a blank canvas: the vines had been abandoned and the entire estate required replanting. What followed was a decades-long project of reconstruction, driven by a clear conviction that these gravel ridges had the potential to produce wines of real Médoc character. Since 2004, Damien Pagès, the third generation of the family, has taken the helm, refining the winemaking and pushing the estate's ambitions further. The Cru Bourgeois Supérieur classification, awarded in 2018, stands as formal recognition of that sustained effort.

HVE certification and a responsible approach

Château Noaillac holds HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification, reflecting a genuine commitment to environmentally responsible viticulture. This level-three certification — the highest tier of the French national scheme — covers biodiversity, plant protection strategy, fertilisation management and water use. For us at Halles Quercamps, it is a meaningful signal: not a marketing label, but evidence of a considered, long-term approach to the land that underpins everything produced here.

The wines of Château Noaillac

The château produces wines across three colours, each expressing the character of its Médoc terroir:

  • Red (Médoc AOC) — the heart of the range; Merlot-led with Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, structured and food-friendly, with the gravelly freshness typical of the northern Médoc.
  • Rosé (Médoc AOC) — a less common expression for the appellation, offering a lighter, fruit-driven style from the same vineyard parcels.
  • White (Bordeaux AOC) — a dry white produced from the estate's white varieties, offering a crisp, aromatic counterpoint to the red range.

Why we have selected Château Noaillac

At Halles Quercamps, we have been listing Château Noaillac because it represents something we value highly: a family-owned Médoc château that has earned its classification through genuine work on the land rather than inherited reputation. The combination of Cru Bourgeois Supérieur status, HVE certification and three generations of family stewardship gives us confidence in both the quality and the consistency of what is in the bottle. The reds, in particular, suit those who enjoy a classically structured Médoc — approachable in their youth but with the gravel-driven backbone to reward a few years in the cellar. We would pair them readily with roast lamb, duck confit or a well-aged hard cheese. This is a château we recommend without hesitation to anyone building a Bordeaux cellar on a considered budget.
