The power and elegance of Pinot Noir in Grand Cru Champagne

  • This is a Champagne of genuine distinction, built entirely from Pinot Noir in a Grand Cru village. The result is a wine of character and refinement—substantial without heaviness, complex without pretension.
  • The winemaking here respects the fruit. Careful élevage on the lees develops the richness and layering that Pinot Noir offers, delivering a tasting experience of real depth and structure.
  • The balance between aromatic intensity and fine mousse makes this an excellent aperitif for a special occasion, or simply an intelligent choice for those who prefer Champagne with backbone.

Breeding
Carefully aged to develop its aromas and finesse fully
On the eye
Bright golden colour, clear and luminous—a sign of careful winemaking and proper maturation.
On the nose
Intense fresh fruit character—stone fruit and citrus—with secondary notes of hazelnut, almond and a subtle floral quality. The nose develops with air.
In the mouth
Creamy mousse carries red fruit flavours—cherry and red plum—alongside brioche and a whisper of white pepper. The finish is clean and persistent, with good acidity beneath.
M. Francois
I find this Blanc de Noirs a genuine expression of what Pinot Noir can achieve in Champagne. The Grand Cru designation is earned here—there is weight, complexity and character without any sense of over-extraction. It is a wine for those who understand that fine Champagne need not be delicate to be elegant. Recommended for serious collectors and those seeking something beyond the standard house styles.

CHAMPAGNE THIERRY HOURY

Based in Ambonnay, one of Champagne's seventeen Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Thierry Houry tends just 2 hectares of chalk-rooted vines at the heart of the appellation. The Houry family has cultivated this small holding across several generations, working Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to produce grower Champagnes of genuine terroir character. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this House for the precision of its Grand Cru parcels, the typicity of Ambonnay's chalk soils, and the integrity of a family operation working at truly human scale. These are grower Champagnes that speak first and foremost of their village, far removed from the blended anonymity of large-scale négoce.
