  • The hallmark of this wine is its precise, persistent finish—a quality that distinguishes the finest dry whites from the Sauternes appellation. The balance between structure and elegance rewards patient cellaring.
  • The blend marries Sémillon's natural richness and weight with Sauvignon Blanc's crystalline freshness. This interplay of varieties is what gives the wine its characteristic complexity and food-friendly character.
  • As a direct merchant, we offer this château wine at a price that reflects our relationship with the property, without the usual retail markup. A genuine advantage for the serious collector.

In the mouth
Round and generous on the palate, with buttered hazelnut and subtle oak influence. The finish is dry and flinty, with excellent length and a saline minerality that lingers.
On the nose
Lifted bouquet of white stone fruits and exotic notes—pineapple and passion fruit—with delicate floral undertones. Mineral and precise on the air.
On the eye
Brilliant pale gold with green glints; clear and luminous.
Breeding
8 to 10 months
M. Francois
I find this wine particularly rewarding with blue cheese—Roquefort in particular. The wine's acidity and mineral structure cut through the richness beautifully, whilst the Sémillon's weight complements the cheese's complexity. It's a pairing that demonstrates why the Sauternes terroir produces such versatile dry whites. A wine of genuine character.

CHATEAU RIEUSSEC

Set on the slopes of Fargues in the Gironde, Château Rieussec is a Premier Cru Classé Sauternes spanning 85 hectares of sandy-gravelly soils above the Garonne. Once the property of the Carmelite monks of Langon, it was classified in 1855 and acquired in 1984 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), whose stewardship has brought remarkable consistency to the estate. Its rich, complex whites — drawn from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle — represent Sauternes at its most precise. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the reliability of its vintages and the enduring legitimacy of its 1855 classification. A cornerstone reference for lovers of great Bordeaux liquoreux.
