A refined Sauternes from the heart of the appellation, blessed by morning mists

  • Positioned in the heart of Sauternes, Chateau Haut-Bergeron benefits from the morning mists generated by the Garonne and Ciron rivers. These conditions foster noble rot—botrytis cinerea—which concentrates sugars in the grapes, creating the foundation for great liquoreux wines.
  • Semillon provides richness and unctuousness whilst Sauvignon Blanc contributes freshness and acidity, creating a harmonious balance. The result is a Sauternes that is both generous and elegant, with a distinctive liveliness that prevents cloying sweetness.
  • Drink young to appreciate its bright fruit character, or cellar for decades as it develops deeper complexity. With age, expect evolving aromas of honey, dried fruits, and saffron, gaining further sophistication and depth.

Product features : Chateau Haut-Bergeron 2018 — Sauternes

In the mouth
Silken texture with generous body and richness. Flavours of preserved fruits—apricot and peach—intertwine with honey, marmalade, and white flowers, finishing with subtle spice and almond notes. The finish is long and elegant, with balancing acidity that prevents excess sweetness
On the nose
Expressive and layered bouquet: candied apricot, exotic fruits, honeycomb, and beeswax mingle with delicate floral notes, creating an inviting and complex aromatic profile
On the eye
Deep golden hue with brilliant, luminous reflections
Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, imparting additional vanilla and spice aromas whilst preserving the wine's fruit freshness
M. Francois
A Sauternes of considerable finesse. Its complex aromas of preserved fruits, silken texture, and equilibrium between sweetness and freshness make it an essential choice for serious enthusiasts. Pair with desserts, blue cheeses such as Roquefort, or foie gras. Approachable now, yet capable of developing greater complexity over several decades of cellaring.

CHATEAU HAUT-BERGERON

At Preignac, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, Château Haut-Bergeron covers 37 hectares of clay-gravel and clay-limestone soils, farmed organically. Founded in 1756 and in the Lamothe family since 1820, this is a château shaped by nine generations of dedication to the great sweet wines of Bordeaux — a commitment reflected in 118 medals, 68 of them gold, awarded since 1964. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its quality over time, the integrity of its organic approach, and the typicity of its Sauternes, which balance concentration with genuine freshness. A dependable reference for lovers of fine Bordeaux liquoreux.
