A refined Sauternes from the heart of the appellation

  • Positioned in the heart of Sauternes, near celebrated growths such as Château d'Yquem, Château Haut-Bergeron benefits from the morning mists generated by the Garonne and Ciron rivers. These conditions are ideal for the development of botrytis cinerea—noble rot—which concentrates sugars in the grapes and creates the foundation for great liquoreux.
  • Sémillon forms the backbone of this assemblage, bringing richness and unctuousness, whilst Sauvignon Blanc contributes freshness and acidity, balancing the wine's natural sweetness. This harmonious marriage yields a Sauternes that is both generous and elegant, with genuine vivacity.
  • This Sauternes rewards early drinking for its bright, fruited expression, yet possesses considerable ageing potential. Over time, it will develop increasingly complex aromas of honey, dried fruits and saffron, deepening in character across several decades.

In the mouth
Unctuously textured with silken mouthfeel and considerable richness. Flavours of preserved fruits—apricot and peach—meld with honey, marmalade and white flowers, complemented by subtle spice and almond notes. The finish is long and elegant, with sufficient acidity to balance the inherent sweetness.
On the nose
Expressive and complex bouquet revealing aromas of exotic fruits, candied apricot, honey, beeswax and delicate floral notes. The nose speaks of careful vinification and noble rot concentration.
On the eye
Intense golden robe with brilliant, luminous reflections
Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, imparting additional vanilla and spice aromas whilst preserving the wine's fruit freshness
M. Francois
Château Haut-Bergeron is a Sauternes of considerable refinement. Its complex aromas of candied fruits, silken texture and equilibrium between sweetness and freshness make it an essential choice for serious collectors. Pair it with desserts, blue cheeses such as Roquefort, or foie gras. Drink young for its fruited brilliance, or cellar for decades as it evolves into something yet more profound.

CHATEAU HAUT-BERGERON

At Preignac, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, Château Haut-Bergeron covers 37 hectares of clay-gravel and clay-limestone soils, farmed organically. Founded in 1756 and in the Lamothe family since 1820, this is a château shaped by nine generations of dedication to the great sweet wines of Bordeaux — a commitment reflected in 118 medals, 68 of them gold, awarded since 1964. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its quality over time, the integrity of its organic approach, and the typicity of its Sauternes, which balance concentration with genuine freshness. A dependable reference for lovers of fine Bordeaux liquoreux.
