The freshness and elegance of the Basque country in white

  • Domaine Brana stands among the leading producers of Irouléguy, situated in the Pyrenean foothills. Vineyards cultivated on terraced slopes with argilo-calcareous soils benefit from a mountain climate that imparts remarkable freshness and vivacity to this white wine.
  • The blend of Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu creates considerable aromatic complexity. Gros Manseng contributes liveliness, whilst Petit Manseng and Petit Courbu add roundness and substance, resulting in a wine of genuine character and depth.
  • This white achieves an admirable equilibrium between freshness and minerality. It is both generous and refined, with fruit and floral notes that appeal immediately, yet reveal considerable finesse upon reflection.

Aged in stainless steel and oak barrels for several months on fine lees, to preserve the fruit's freshness whilst adding texture and complexity.
On the eye
Pale yellow robe with golden glints
On the nose
Expressive and fresh bouquet revealing citrus, exotic fruits, white flowers and a distinct mineral character that defines the terroir
In the mouth
Lively and refreshing on the palate with commendable acidity. Citrus flavours—lemon and grapefruit—mingle with stone fruits and white flowers, underpinned by mineral notes that extend the finish. A subtle salinity and remarkable aromatic purity characterise the close.
M. Francois
An elegant, fresh expression of Irouléguy terroir, ideally suited to shellfish, grilled fish and lighter vegetable-based dishes. The pronounced minerality and balance between vivacity and roundness exemplify the finest South-West whites. A wine for those who appreciate freshness married with genuine flavour and character.

DOMAINE BRANA

Perched on the steep Basque slopes of Ispoure and Bussunaritz in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Domaine Brana farms 16 hectares in organic conversion at the heart of the Irouléguy appellation. Rooted in the wine trade since 1897, Martine and Jean Brana established the first independent estate in the AOC in 1984, playing a decisive role in reviving white wine production here. On red triassic sandstone, argilite, and limestone, Tannat, Cabernet Franc, Gros Manseng, and Petit Manseng yield structured reds and characterful whites of real distinction. At Halles Quercamps, we selected this estate for its historic place within one of France's most discreet appellations and for the precision with which it interprets these remarkable Pyrenean terroirs.
