The character and power of Basque terroir in a single glass

  • Domaine Brana occupies a singular position in the heart of the Basque Country, cultivating steep terraced vineyards on argilo-calcareous soils. Harri Gorri—'red stone' in Basque—captures the mineral essence and deep colour of this distinctive terroir.
  • Tannat provides the backbone: rich in structure and tannin. Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon contribute freshness, elegance and aromatic complexity, creating a wine of power held in balance.
  • This wine expresses the finest qualities of Irouleguy. Approachable now for its dark fruit character, it will develop considerably over five to ten years in bottle, gaining depth and refinement.

Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels for approximately 12 to 18 months, with limited new wood to preserve freshness and fruit expression
On the eye
Deep garnet-red with purple reflections
On the nose
Intense and complex bouquet: dark berries (cherry, plum), spice, garrigue and a subtle leather note
In the mouth
Powerful and structured on the palate, with firm yet refined tannins. Ripe dark fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) meld with spice (pepper, liquorice), tobacco and forest floor. The finish is long, with persistent freshness and mineral grip.
M. Francois
Harri Gorri is a wine of genuine character, expressing the authenticity of Basque viticulture. The Tannat-Cabernet blend achieves a rare equilibrium of power and elegance. Excellent with red meat, game and spiced dishes. Drink now with pleasure, or cellar for a decade to discover its full complexity.
