A domain with deep roots and a singular family history
The property's origins reach back to the seventeenth century, yet the modern chapter of Château Quincarnon began in 1988, when Carlos Aseretto, born in Peru, chose this historic Gironde terroir to build something lasting. His decision to settle at Fargues — in the southern Graves, a stone's throw from the most celebrated sweet wine estate in the world — was not accidental. He saw in the gravelly, sand-and-clay soils a capacity for both finesse and structure that the appellation's reputation does not always make obvious to outsiders.
Terroir and encépagement
The 13-hectare vineyard sits on a mosaic of gravelly soils interleaved with sand and clay, a composition that drains well, warms readily, and imparts a characteristic mineral tension to the wines. For the reds, the château relies on the classic Bordeaux pairing of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot: the Cabernet lending structure, aromatic precision, and ageing potential; the Merlot contributing roundness and early approachability. The whites are assembled from Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle — the traditional triumvirate of the southern Gironde — producing wines with both aromatic lift and textural weight.
A new generation at the helm
In 2021, Gabriel Aseretto, Carlos's son, took over the running of Château Quincarnon. The transition has been seamless in terms of quality and intent, while bringing a fresh perspective to viticulture and vinification. The château produces two colour families, each rooted in the character of the Fargues terroir and the AOC Bordeaux framework:
