Ample and elegant

  • Situated just 1.5 kilometres from Château d'Yquem, this domaine benefits from the same exceptional terroir that defines the Sauternes appellation. The proximity to one of Bordeaux's most celebrated estates speaks to the quality of the vineyard's location and microclimate.
  • This moelleux achieves a commendable equilibrium between the natural richness of botrytised fruit and a refreshing acidity that prevents cloying. The result is a wine of considerable refinement and balance, neither heavy-handed nor thin.
  • The wine's inherent sweetness and acidity make it a natural companion to fruit-based desserts. An apricot tart would be particularly well-suited, allowing the wine's citrus notes to complement the fruit's natural tartness.

M. Francois
Sauternes of this calibre has long been the traditional accompaniment to foie gras, and Château Quincarnon upholds this classic pairing admirably. The wine's sweetness and complexity complement the richness of the liver whilst its acidity cuts through the fat, cleansing the palate between bites. This is wine in its classical context.

CHÂTEAU QUINCARNON

Situated at Fargues in the Gironde, just 1.5 km from Château d'Yquem, Château Quincarnon works 13 hectares of AOC Bordeaux across gravelly soils laced with sand and clay. The château was founded in 1988 by Carlos Aseretto, a Peruvian-born vigneron who recognised the potential of a property whose origins stretch back to the seventeenth century; his son Gabriel took the helm in 2021. The range spans reds built on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, and whites blending Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the singularity of its family story, the precision of its encépagement, and the consistent quality Gabriel brings to each vintage. A Bordeaux of genuine character, rooted in one of the Gironde's most storied corners.
