A vineyard born in 1824 — and proud of its continuity

The story of Château Beaumont begins in 1824, when M. Bonnin established the first vines on the gravel ridges of Cussac-Fort-Médoc. Three decades later, in 1854, the estate was given its present architectural character: a handsome Renaissance mansard château that remains one of the more distinctive silhouettes in the Haut-Médoc. The property changed hands in 1986, when Grands Millésimes de France — a joint venture between Suntory and Castel — took ownership. The same group also stewards Château Beychevelle, and that pedigree of serious Médoc management has shaped Château Beaumont's trajectory ever since. Far from diluting the estate's identity, this governance has brought investment, rigour, and a long-term vision that shows clearly in the wines.

Terroir: Günzian gravels and the logic of the Left Bank

The soils at Château Beaumont are Günzian sandy gravels — an ancient geological deposit that drains freely, warms rapidly in summer, and forces the vine to root deeply in search of water and nutrients.
