A château woven into the history of Pomerol

The earliest recorded trace of Clos René dates to 1734, the founding year of the estate. Yet it is the Belleyme map, surveyed from 1764 onwards, that offers the first cartographic evidence of the property — then noted under the name Reney. This document alone places the château among the oldest identifiable producers in Pomerol, an appellation where such documented continuity is genuinely rare. For well over a century, the same family lineage has guided the château without interruption, a thread of ownership that speaks to both conviction and attachment to the land. Today, the estate is managed by SCEA Garde-Lasserre, the joint venture of the Garde and Lasserre families. Grape varieties and winemaking
