Breeding
12 months in barrels of 2-3 wines for one-third of the volume and two-thirds remaining in stainless steel
On the eye
Bright ruby-red in colour, with good intensity and luminosity in the glass.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing ripe red fruits—cherry and plum—alongside white pepper spice and subtle oak influence. Inviting and well-defined.
In the mouth
Ample, well-integrated tannins provide structure without astringency. The palate shows good balance between fruit and acidity, finishing fresh and savoury with lingering flavour.
I find this wine particularly well-suited to lighter poultry dishes—a spiced chicken preparation, for instance, where the wine's pepper notes and freshness complement the delicacy of the meat. The half-bottle format makes it an excellent choice for informal entertaining or a single evening's pleasure.

DOMAINE DE LA CITADELLE
Domaine de la Citadelle is a wine estate in Ménerbes (Vaucluse), Luberon appellation. Founded in 1990 by Yves Rousset-Rouard. Around 42 hectares on clay-limestone soils. Grapes: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Vermentino, Viognier. Organically farmed. The estate also houses a corkscrew museum. Available at Les Halles de Quercamps.
