  • Elegant and harmoniously balanced, with a silken texture that belies considerable structure. The fine, powdered tannins integrate seamlessly with the fruit and mineral elements.
  • Produced from the estate's oldest vines, this cuvée captures the depth and refinement that only mature vineyards can deliver. The result is a wine of considerable finesse and ageing potential.

Product features : Chateau Fonplegade 2011 — Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Breeding
12 to 18 months in new French oak casks (50%), one-year-old barrels (30%), oval concrete vats (10%) and amphorae (10%)
On the eye
Intense purple-garnet robe with violet reflections, characteristic of biodynamically farmed wines, retaining remarkable luminosity.
On the nose
Pristine aromatic purity: black cherry, wild blackberry and ripe raspberry, with a distinctive floral signature of violet and faded rose. Subtle calcaire minerality—wet chalk and graphite—adds complexity and length.
In the mouth
Immediately velvety in texture, yet tonic and spherical. The tannins are remarkably fine and powdered, providing structure without heaviness. A wine of considerable elegance and balance.
M. Francois
One of the appellation's oldest vineyards, its name meaning 'Plain Spring'. Fonplegade rewards patient cellaring and pairs beautifully with beef tournedos with morels, roasted pigeon, or herb-crusted lamb. A classic Saint-Émilion of genuine character and breeding.
