Noble rot concentration from the heart of Sauternes

  • Positioned in the Sauternes appellation near Château d'Yquem, this vineyard benefits from morning mists generated by the Garonne and Ciron rivers. These conditions favour botrytis cinerea—noble rot—which concentrates sugars in the grapes and produces the finest liquoreux wines.
  • Sémillon provides richness and unctuous texture, whilst Sauvignon Blanc contributes freshness and acidity, creating harmonious balance. The result is a Sauternes that combines natural sweetness with elegant vivacity and restraint.
  • Approachable now for its bright fruit character, this wine possesses considerable ageing potential. Over decades, it will develop increasingly complex aromas of honey, dried fruits, and saffron, deepening in complexity and refinement.

Product features : Chateau Haut-Bergeron 2022 — Sauternes

Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 18 to 24 months, imparting additional vanilla and spice aromas whilst preserving the wine's fruit freshness.
On the eye
Deep golden robe with brilliant, luminous reflections
On the nose
Expressive and layered bouquet: exotic fruits, candied apricot, honey, beeswax, and delicate floral notes combine in an inviting, complex profile.
In the mouth
Unctuous and silken on the palate, with concentrated flavours of preserved fruits—apricot and peach—mingled with honey, marmalade, and white flowers. Subtle spice and almond notes emerge, whilst bright acidity elegantly counterbalances the natural sweetness. The finish is long and refined.
M. Francois
A Sauternes of considerable finesse. Excellent with desserts, blue cheeses such as Roquefort, or foie gras. The interplay of candied fruit aromas, silken texture, and balanced sweetness exemplifies fine Sauternes. Drink young to appreciate its fruit-forward character, or cellar for decades as it develops deeper, more profound complexity.

CHATEAU HAUT-BERGERON

At Preignac, in the heart of the Sauternes appellation, Château Haut-Bergeron covers 37 hectares of clay-gravel and clay-limestone soils, farmed organically. Founded in 1756 and in the Lamothe family since 1820, this is a château shaped by nine generations of dedication to the great sweet wines of Bordeaux — a commitment reflected in 118 medals, 68 of them gold, awarded since 1964. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its quality over time, the integrity of its organic approach, and the typicity of its Sauternes, which balance concentration with genuine freshness. A dependable reference for lovers of fine Bordeaux liquoreux.
