WINE | RED WINE | LANGUEDOC-ROUSSILLON | SAINT-CHINIAN ROUGE
Bottle of : 75cl

The altitude of Pech Cézarine defines this wine's character

  • A generous, powerful red with sustained length. The elevation of this particular parcel—136 metres—lends natural acidity and freshness that elevates the wine beyond typical Languedoc ripeness, creating a wine of genuine balance and food-friendliness.
  • This represents Laurent Miquel's careful interpretation of terroir. It bridges his lighter Solas range and serious Saint-Chinian cuvées, offering gastronomic depth without pretension—a red that rewards serious attention without demanding it.
  • Silky tannins and measured concentration make this remarkably versatile. Pair with beef, certainly, but consider also roasted game, mature cheeses, or dark chocolate desserts where its natural acidity and structure will shine.

Product features : Laurent Miquel Saint-Chinian Cote 136 Pech Cezarine 2020

Breeding
A small quantity is aged in new French oak barrels
On the eye
Deep ruby red, with good colour intensity and clarity
On the nose
Blackcurrant and wild herbs emerge first, followed by white pepper and subtle garrigue notes. The bouquet develops with air, revealing mineral undertones characteristic of the limestone terroir.
In the mouth
Silky, well-integrated tannins frame a concentrated yet balanced palate. Natural acidity from the altitude provides tension and lift, leading to a long, clean finish. The wine is digeste and remarkably food-friendly despite its structure.
M. Francois
Côte 136 Rouge occupies an intelligent position in Laurent Miquel's portfolio—neither lightweight nor heavy-handed. This is gastronomic Languedoc that avoids over-ripeness. The freshness of Pech Cézarine shines through: balanced, accessible, and genuinely versatile. Serve with côte de boeuf to experience how wine and meat elevate one another.

DOMAINE LAURENT MIQUEL

Based in Cessenon-sur-Orb in the Hérault, Domaine Laurent Miquel farms 200 hectares under certified organic agriculture across the Languedoc appellation. A winemaking family since 1791, Laurent — a trained engineer — took over in 1996 as the eighth generation and made history as the first producer to grow Albariño in France. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the coherence of its viticultural project, the diversity of its terroirs — limestone at Cazal Viel, clay-limestone at Auzines — and the precision of its reds, whites, and rosés. A benchmark address for anyone wishing to explore the full depth of the Languedoc.
