A wine of genuine character and distinction

  • Certified organic since 2012, this estate has long championed sustainable viticulture in the Cahors appellation. The Heritage bottling reflects their commitment to expressing the true nature of the Malbec varietal without compromise.
  • The wine's structure and spice make it a natural companion to duck breast and other richly flavoured game dishes. It also pairs thoughtfully with herb-crusted lamb and Mediterranean-influenced cuisine.
  • We recommend opening this wine 30 minutes before serving to allow it to breathe gently. This brief aeration allows the wine's aromatic complexity and textural depth to develop fully, revealing its true character.

Product features : Chateau du Cedre Heritage 2022 — Cahors

Breeding
16 months in vat
On the eye
Deep violet-purple, with good colour intensity and clarity
On the nose
Cassis and blackcurrant are complemented by white pepper, clove and a subtle floral note of violets. The aromatics are restrained and well-defined rather than exuberant.
In the mouth
The palate is well-balanced and graceful. Tannins are present but refined, providing structure without harshness. The finish is dry and persistent, with lingering spice notes.
M. Francois
This is a wine of genuine substance that rewards careful attention. The 2022 vintage shows the estate's skill in managing the Malbec's natural power whilst maintaining elegance. Particularly suited to spiced meat preparations, game, and slow-cooked dishes where its tannin structure can shine. A thoughtful choice for the serious wine drinker.

CHATEAU DU CEDRE

Situated at Vire-sur-Lot in the Lot valley, Château du Cèdre farms 27 hectares of certified organic vines across the calcareous scree slopes and ancient siliceous terraces of the Cahors appellation. Founded in 1973 by the Verhaeghe family, originally from Flanders, the estate reached a turning point in 1995 when a devastating hailstorm prompted Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe to rethink their viticulture entirely — a journey that culminated in full organic certification in 2012. Malbec here delivers the depth and density that define the finest Cahors. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the seriousness of its organic conversion, its precise understanding of Lot terroirs, and the consistent ageing potential of its reds. A benchmark address in the Sud-Ouest.
