Mâcon's clay-limestone terroir expressing Chardonnay with freshness and mineral purity

  • This Mâcon-Villages embodies the hallmarks of fine white Burgundy—elegant, mineral-driven Chardonnay—whilst remaining genuinely accessible to the everyday drinker seeking quality without pretension.
  • Unadded sulphites and natural winemaking practices appeal to those seeking a cleaner, less interventionist approach. A wine of substance that rewards attention without demanding ceremony.
  • Bright and approachable, with lively acidity and a supple frame. Equally at home at the summer table or as an aperitif, this is Burgundy made for pleasure rather than occasion.

Pale golden yellow with bright, crystalline clarity
On the nose
Expressive white fruit—green apple and pear—with citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit. A delicate floral undertone of acacia and linden adds refinement.
In the mouth
Lively entry with admirable balance between freshness and roundness. The acidity is well-judged, lending lift without harshness. Silky texture, clean finish with lingering fruit and subtle mineral grip.

CAVE D'AZE

Based in Azé, Saône-et-Loire, the Cave Coopérative Viticole d'Azé brings together around fifty growers across 248 hectares of clay-limestone hillside vineyards in the Mâcon appellation. Founded in 1927 in response to the economic crises of the interwar years, the cooperative has cultivated a tradition of collective winemaking on a terroir with roots stretching back to Roman times, in the shadow of the celebrated prehistoric caves of Azé. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the consistency of its Mâcon Blanc cuvées, the honest expression of Chardonnay on calcareous soils, and the serious relationship between cooperative quality and price. A dependable reference point from the Mâconnais, firmly rooted in its territory for nearly a century.
