Merlot and Cabernet Franc in perfect harmony

  • A wine of genuine structure and intensity. The blend shows the hallmark balance of the finest Pomerol terroir, with weight and complexity that reward careful cellaring.
  • This wine's architecture makes it an ideal companion to beef—a classic pairing that brings out the wine's darker fruit and mineral character. Equally at home with game and rich preparations.
  • Crafted using traditional methods that respect the vineyard and vintage. The élevage allows the wine's natural character to develop without excessive intervention.

In the mouth
Structured and intense, with a fine-grained tannin framework. The palate shows good acidity and depth, finishing with a mineral edge that suggests ageing potential.
On the nose
Red and dark fruit aromas—plum and blackcurrant—with a distinctive liquorice note that adds complexity and length. The nose is restrained, inviting closer inspection.
On the eye
Deep, luminous garnet. A wine of substance and colour that speaks to careful viticulture.
Breeding
Vinification in French oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
M. Francois
This is a wine for the table, not the trophy shelf. I would serve it with a terrine of pheasant, a risotto of wild mushrooms, or a properly roasted beef fillet. The structure carries through each course, and the finish lingers pleasantly. A serious Pomerol that rewards patience and good company.

CLOS L'EGLISE

Covering 6 hectares at the heart of the Pomerol appellation in Gironde, Clos l'Eglise is one of the Right Bank's most discreet addresses. Attested as far back as the eighteenth century, this château was acquired in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard for €12 million — a record price for Pomerol at the time — and has since been run by her daughter Hélène Garcin and her husband Patrice Lévèque. On clay-gravel soils laced with iron-rich crasses de fer, Merlot and Cabernet Franc yield reds of remarkable definition. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its approach: HVE certification, disciplined viticulture, and an aromatic signature that speaks unmistakably of Pomerol. A Bordeaux reference we are proud to list.
