Merlot and Cabernet Franc in perfect balance

  • A structured and intense wine that expresses the character of Pomerol's clay and gravel terroir. The blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc creates a wine of considerable depth and complexity, rewarding patient cellaring.
  • This wine pairs beautifully with beef preparations—a fillet steak or beef en croûte will find a natural complement in its firm tannins and dark fruit character. It also suits game and mushroom-based dishes.
  • Produced using traditional Bordeaux methods, including careful hand-selection of grapes and élevage in French oak. The winemaking respects the vintage's natural expression rather than imposing modern techniques.

In the mouth
The palate is structured and intense, with fine-grained tannins providing a firm backbone. Black fruit flavours are balanced by mineral notes, leading to a persistent finish with good length and composure.
On the nose
Aromas of dark cherry and plum are complemented by notes of liquorice and a whisper of graphite. The bouquet develops with air, revealing subtle floral undertones characteristic of the vintage.
On the eye
Deep, brilliant garnet with a subtle violet rim.
Breeding
Vinification in French oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
M. Francois
A wine of considerable merit for the table. Pair with pheasant terrine, risotto aux cèpes, roasted capon, or a fine cut of beef. The wine's structure and intensity will enhance rather than overwhelm these dishes. Drinking well now, though it will continue to develop gracefully over the next decade.

CLOS L'EGLISE

Covering 6 hectares at the heart of the Pomerol appellation in Gironde, Clos l'Eglise is one of the Right Bank's most discreet addresses. Attested as far back as the eighteenth century, this château was acquired in 1997 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard for €12 million — a record price for Pomerol at the time — and has since been run by her daughter Hélène Garcin and her husband Patrice Lévèque. On clay-gravel soils laced with iron-rich crasses de fer, Merlot and Cabernet Franc yield reds of remarkable definition. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its approach: HVE certification, disciplined viticulture, and an aromatic signature that speaks unmistakably of Pomerol. A Bordeaux reference we are proud to list.
