In the mouth
Gastronomic in intent. The palate is rounded and generous, yet underpinned by crisp acidity that prevents any heaviness. A wine of presence and food-friendliness, with a clean, mineral finish.
On the nose
Expressive and inviting. Yellow stone fruits—pear and mirabelle—lead, with a whisper of smoke and mineral flintiness beneath. The bouquet opens gradually in the glass.
On the eye
Pale gold with green-tinged highlights; the colour of youth and freshness.
I find this Pinot Gris particularly rewarding with foie gras—the wine's weight and slight smokiness complement the richness beautifully. It is equally at home with white meats, roasted poultry, and offal dishes such as liver and kidneys. A serious Alsatian white for the table, not merely an aperitif.
