  • Complexity and finesse define this vintage. Layered aromatics combine fresh berries with the signature gunflint and smoky notes typical of the terroir, whilst maintaining an airy, sophisticated palate.

Product features : Château Haut-Bergey 2023 Pessac-Leognan — Pessac-Léognan

Breeding
Approximately 14 months. Finished in 100% new oak: a blend of one and two-year-old barrels, large wooden vats and egg-shaped concrete vessels to preserve brightness.
On the eye
Deep ruby robe with violet reflections, brilliant and limpid throughout
On the nose
Complex bouquet of fresh red and black fruits—raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant—layered with the distinctive Pessac signature of slate, smoke, and flint. Aromatic clarity and mineral precision.
In the mouth
Elegant, aerated palate with refined tannins of excellent finesse. Mineral tension provides freshness and structure. The finish is saline and persistent, returning to small acidulous fruits and subtle smoke with admirable length.
M. Francois
Haut-Bergey stands as a reference point for those seeking living wines, underpinned by biodynamic farming and organic certification. At full maturity, this wine will prove an ideal companion to caramelised lamb sweetbreads, its mineral framework and saline finish complementing rich, delicate preparations with particular grace.

CHATEAU HAUT-BERGEY

Situated on the slopes of Léognan in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Haut-Bergey extends across 41 hectares of gravel and sandy soils on Bordeaux's Left Bank. The château traces its origins to the fifteenth century, when it was known as the Maison Noble de Pontey. Acquired in 1991 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard and now led by her son Paul Garcin, it became the first estate in the appellation to achieve Demeter biodynamic certification, a landmark reached in 2014. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its biodynamic conversion, the precision of its Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon whites, and the depth of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led reds. A Pessac-Léognan of real character, firmly rooted in its terroir.
