Breeding
18 to 20 months in new French oak barrels and one-year-old oak. This extended élevage allows the powerful tannins of Tannat to be refined and polished.
On the eye
Brilliant garnet robe with good depth of colour.
On the nose
Dark berry fruits open to subtle notes of white pepper and spice, with underlying mineral freshness.
In the mouth
Fresh and juicy on the palate, with silky tannins and good structure. The finish carries mineral precision and a lingering spice note.
This wine proves that Gascogne can rival the great appellations of the South-West—Madiran, Cahors—yet with an additional elegance and limestone-driven freshness. I find it particularly suited to lamb, game birds such as pheasant, or traditional hare dishes. A wine of genuine class and balance.

DOMAINE CHIROULET
Domaine Chiroulet is a family wine estate in the Gers, Côtes de Gascogne (South-West France). Founded by the Fezas family. Around 60 hectares on clay-limestone soils. Grapes: Colombard, Sauvignon Blanc, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng (whites), Tannat, Merlot (reds). Dry whites, sweet whites and sparkling wines. Available at Les Halles de Quercamps.
