Altitude 238 metres: where Albariño finds its true expression

  • Eight generations of family viticulture. Laurent Miquel has cultivated these vineyards with meticulous care, understanding how altitude shapes character and complexity in every vintage.
  • Albariño thrives here at elevation, far from its Iberian homeland. This displacement yields something unexpected: Languedoc's warmth married to Atlantic rigour and mineral precision.
  • A wine of considerable refinement, equally at home with fine seafood and contemporary gastronomy. Its acidity and clarity make it a natural partner for oysters and refined fish preparations.

Breeding
In concrete or stainless steel vats on fine lees, with no barrel ageing, to preserve the varietal character without oak influence.
On the eye
Intense golden yellow with bright, luminous clarity.
On the nose
White stone fruit dominates—ripe peach and pear—with citrus notes of grapefruit and green lemon adding freshness and definition.
In the mouth
Taut and mineral-driven, with no heavy richness. Acidity provides the wine's backbone, delivering precision and verticality. Clean, direct, and remarkably drinkable.
M. Francois
Laurent Miquel demonstrates that Albariño belongs in southern France when planted at altitude. This wine defies expectation: Languedoc's generosity combined with Atlantic salinity and rigour. Precise, clean, and dangerously easy to drink. A genuine alternative to conventional Chardonnay or Sauvignon for those seeking originality. Serve chilled by the sea with a plateau of oysters.

DOMAINE LAURENT MIQUEL

Based in Cessenon-sur-Orb in the Hérault, Domaine Laurent Miquel farms 200 hectares under certified organic agriculture across the Languedoc appellation. A winemaking family since 1791, Laurent — a trained engineer — took over in 1996 as the eighth generation and made history as the first producer to grow Albariño in France. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the coherence of its viticultural project, the diversity of its terroirs — limestone at Cazal Viel, clay-limestone at Auzines — and the precision of its reds, whites, and rosés. A benchmark address for anyone wishing to explore the full depth of the Languedoc.
