Bottle of : 0.75L
Merlot, Cabernet-Franc

A family domain farmed in biodynamic harmony

  • This wine captures the essence of Saint-Émilion's complex terroir. The chalky, mineral character of the plateau combines with the riper fruit expression of the clay slopes, creating a wine of genuine typicity and balance.
  • Fonplégade expresses elegance through restraint. The structure is refined rather than powerful, with silken tannins that speak of meticulous vineyard work and careful élevage. A wine for contemplation.
  • This cuvée is drawn from the estate's oldest vines, which root deep into the limestone subsoil. Greater age brings concentration and complexity without heaviness—a hallmark of biodynamic viticulture.

Product features : Chateau Fonplegade 2022 — Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Breeding
12 to 18 months in new French oak casks (50%), one-year-old barrels (30%), oval concrete vats (10%) and amphorae (10%)
On the eye
Deep purple robe with violet glints, characteristic of biodynamically farmed wines which retain remarkable chromatic brilliance.
On the nose
Aromatic purity defines the bouquet. Black cherry and wild blackberry lead, with ripe raspberry notes. The signature floral character—violet and faded rose—mingles with a precise mineral signature: damp chalk and graphite.
In the mouth
Immediate velvet texture with a spherical, tonically balanced palate. The tannins are exceptionally fine, powdered in texture, allowing the wine's mineral and fruit character to unfold without obstruction.
M. Francois
One of Saint-Émilion's oldest vineyards—the name itself means 'Plain Spring'. The wine's refinement suits roasted pigeon, beef tenderloin with morel mushrooms, or herb-crusted lamb. Drink now or cellar with confidence for ten years or more.
