Mature Merlot vines deliver elegant power and refinement

  • The vineyard benefits from excellent south-facing exposure and distinctive terroir: clay soils rising towards limestone bedrock. This geological composition imparts both richness and minerality to the wine.
  • Cabernet Franc provides essential balance through its delicate aromatic profile, adding complexity and subtle spice notes that complement the wine's generous mid-palate.
  • Extended élevage in the cellar allows the wine to develop its full potential, softening the tannins and permitting the fruit and oak to integrate harmoniously.

Product features : Château Lassègue 2022 — Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

In the mouth
Ample and generous on the palate, with substantial structure. The tannins are well-developed yet supple, providing a satisfying grip without harshness. Ripe fruit character persists through a lingering finish.
On the nose
Fresh red fruits dominate—cherry and red plum—with emerging vanillin notes from careful oak ageing. The bouquet remains composed and inviting.
On the eye
Brilliant garnet with good depth of colour
Breeding
50 to 60 per cent new oak according to the vintage
M. Francois
A wine of considerable charm: aromatic generosity balanced by delicate restraint. The 2022 vintage shows the hallmarks of Saint-Émilion's finest terroirs—power tempered by elegance. Suitable for cellaring, though approachable now. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open.

CHÂTEAU LASSÈGUE

Set on the south-facing clay-limestone hillsides of Saint-Hippolyte in the Gironde, Château Lassègue covers 36 hectares at the heart of the Saint-Émilion appellation. Founded in 1738 and acquired in 2003 by the Jackson Family Wines and the Banke-Jackson family, the château is now guided by Pierre and Nicolas Seillan, who apply a rigorous micro-cru philosophy: each parcel is vinified according to its own character, drawing on Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the precision of its parcel-by-parcel viticulture, the coherence of its blending, and the rare ambition that brings Californian investment together with deeply Bordelais exigence. A Saint-Émilion address well worth following closely.
