Ten generations of Barton family custodianship since 1821

  • Classified as a Third Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux hierarchy, Langoa-Barton represents an unbroken lineage of quality. The Barton family remains the sole proprietor—a rare continuity in the Médoc that speaks to unwavering commitment to terroir and craft.
  • This vintage displays the hallmark Saint-Julien balance: supple tannins of exceptional fineness coupled with a rounded mid-palate. Structure without heaviness, elegance without ostentation—the wine speaks rather than shouts.
  • Patience rewards the collector. This 2022 possesses the architecture for graceful cellaring. Resist the temptation to uncork prematurely; allow the wine years to develop its full complexity and refinement.

Product features : Chateau Langoa Barton - 3eme Cru Classé 2022 — Saint-Julien

Breeding
Aged 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels, of which 60% new wood
On the eye
Deep garnet-red, densely coloured, with purple-tinged highlights at the rim.
On the nose
Bright black fruits and morello cherry, with subtle mint and spice undertones. The bouquet unfolds with measured intensity, inviting rather than imposing.
In the mouth
Equilibrium is the defining characteristic. Firm yet finely-grained tannins provide structure; the palate is vertical, elegant, and poised. A wine of civilised restraint and harmonic balance.
M. Francois
Langoa-Barton exemplifies the Saint-Julien archetype: the perfect equipoise between Pauillac's structured framework and Margaux's feminine refinement. It eschews exuberant power in favour of justesse and harmony. A benchmark classical Bordeaux of exemplary consistency—an absolute refuge for the serious cellar. Equally at home with roasted game or, as some suggest, a well-made chicken jambalaya.

CHATEAU LANGOA BARTON

Set on the gravel slopes of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle overlooking the Gironde, Château Langoa Barton is one of the very few 3rd Grands Crus Classés of 1855 still held by the family that owned it at the time of classification. Acquired in 1821 by Hugh Barton, the château works 20 hectares of shallow graves to produce red wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its Saint-Julien style — precise, full-bodied and quietly elegant — and for the remarkable continuity of a family now in its tenth generation with Lilian Barton Sartorius. A benchmark of the appellation, and one we are proud to list.
