One of the Médoc's most venerable estates

  • In the hands of the Borie family since 1978, Grand-Puy Lacoste continues a tradition stretching back centuries. The château remains a benchmark for balanced, elegant Pauillac that rewards patience in the cellar.
  • This vintage demonstrates the hallmark of the property: a wine of considerable equilibrium, marrying charm and elegance with mineral freshness. The finish is notably pure and aromatic, sustained by supple, well-integrated tannins.
  • A wine of genuine cellaring potential. Those with adequate storage should consider laying down several bottles to witness its evolution over the coming decade.

Product features : Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste - 5eme Cru Classé 2020 — Pauillac

In the mouth
Precise, linear attack leading into a mid-palate of considerable depth. The tannins are mature and finely woven, providing structure without harshness. A long, clean finish.
On the nose
Aromas of ripe dark berries, violet and warm spice, underpinned by a distinctive mineral character that speaks to the gravelly terroir of Pauillac.
On the eye
Deep purple-red, intense and luminous
Breeding
In French oak barrels (fine grain) with 75% new wood for 16 to 18 months
M. Francois
A natural companion to beef dishes of substance—a braise with warm spices, or a simply roasted joint with its pan juices. The wine's mineral backbone and refined tannins make it equally suited to game or mature cheeses. Drinking well now, but will develop further complexity over the next eight to twelve years.
