In the mouth

22 months: 40% new oak barrels and 60% one or two-year-old barrels
A wine of character, suited to game dishes and robust preparations. Cailles and perdrix would be natural companions, as would beef en daube or venison. The wine's structure and spice complement dishes with depth and flavour.

Based in Ampuis at the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation, Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin farms 20 hectares across steep hillside terraces of micaschist and red schist. Founded in 1983 by Jean-Michel Gerin, whose family has grown vines in Ampuis for six generations, the estate is now guided by Michaël and Alexis Gerin. Organic certification, effective from the 2023 vintage, crowns a long-held commitment to working these demanding northern Rhône terroirs with care and precision. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the clarity and depth of its Côte-Rôtie Syrahs, its rigorous approach to steep-slope viticulture, and the international standing it has earned without ever straying from Ampuis. A benchmark address for lovers of great northern Rhône reds.
