Three generations of vines, one compelling expression

  • The vineyard comprises parcels planted in 1927, 1965, and 1989, each contributing distinct character and maturity to the blend. The domaine has been in conversion to organic viticulture since 2020, reflecting a commitment to sustainable practice.
  • A wine of considerable structure and spice, built for serious cellaring. The palate shows precision and richness, layered with smoked and peppery notes that evolve with time.
  • This is a Côte-Rôtie of substance and complexity, suited to extended ageing. It will reward patience, developing further nuance and integration over the coming decade.

Product features : Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin Cote-Rotie les Grandes Places 2020 — Côte-Rôtie

In the mouth
Precise and layered, with a rich mid-palate. Smoked and peppery spice runs through the finish, balanced by fine tannins and good acidity. The structure suggests considerable ageing potential.
On the nose
Black fruits—cassis and blackberry—with white pepper and a mineral undertone characteristic of the appellation's granitic soils
On the eye
Deep purple, suggesting youth and concentration
Breeding
22 months: 40% new oak barrels and 60% one or two-year-old barrels
M. Francois
A wine of character, suited to game dishes and robust preparations. Cailles and perdrix would be natural companions, as would beef en daube or venison. The wine's structure and spice complement dishes with depth and flavour.
