A wine of substance, worthy of your finest occasions.

  • This is a characterful Hermitage that rewards patient cellaring. The 2017 vintage from Domaine Paul Jaboulet combines power with refinement, delivering the structure and depth that define the appellation at its best.
  • The wine reveals itself gradually: initial notes of red fruit give way to mineral undertones and a subtle earthiness. On the palate, silky tannins support a framework of considerable elegance and persistence.
  • Hermitage of this calibre develops beautifully over time. The 2017 possesses the balance and concentration to evolve gracefully over the next decade, gaining complexity and softness with age.

In the mouth
The palate is marked by fine fruit expression and a restrained use of oak. The tannins are silky and well-integrated, providing structure without dominance. The finish is clean and persistent.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with red and dark berry fruit, complemented by graphite minerality and subtle olive notes. These elements combine to create an inviting and complex aromatic profile.
On the eye
A deep ruby hue, suggesting the wine's concentration and maturity potential.
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels with 20% new wood.
M. Francois
This Hermitage will prove an excellent companion to game birds and duck preparations. Consider it alongside magret de canard or roasted game. The wine's structure and moderate alcohol make it equally suited to substantial meat dishes and aged cheeses. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open fully.
