Grand Cru Classé with six centuries of terroir mastery

  • Under Bernard Magrez's stewardship, Fombrauge expresses the refined winemaking philosophy evident across his portfolio of distinguished Bordeaux properties. His technical precision shapes wines of considerable depth and structure.
  • This vintage reveals its complexity gradually. Initial dark fruit intensity gives way, over several years in bottle, to layered aromatics and a more nuanced palate—a wine that rewards patience and proper cellaring.
  • Six centuries of continuous cultivation have shaped an intimate understanding of this Saint-Émilion terroir. The estate's heritage informs every vintage, marrying historical perspective with contemporary technique.

Product features : Chateau Fombrauge 2021 — Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

Breeding
16 to 18 months in French oak barrels (approximately 40-50% new wood)
On the eye
Dense purple-black robe with violet tints in youth, evolving towards deep ruby. Remarkable depth and concentration evident from the glass.
On the nose
Exuberant bouquet of ripe dark fruits—blackcurrant preserve, morello cherry, blackberry—layered with Magrez's signature noble oak: vanilla, roasted coffee, dark chocolate and toasted bread notes.
In the mouth
Spherical, fleshy palate with ripe, structured tannins wrapped in generous fruit weight. A wine of considerable volume and presence, built for the long term with impressive mid-palate density.
M. Francois
This Grand Cru Classé exemplifies modern Saint-Émilion craftsmanship—rich, voluptuous, yet technically precise. A natural companion to game birds, particularly wild duck with bitter orange sauce, where its dark fruit and oak complexity find ideal expression.
