Product features : Chateau Haut-Bergey 2021 — Pessac-Léognan

Breeding
Approximately 14 months. Finished in 100% new oak: blend of one and two-year-old barrels, large casks and egg-shaped concrete vessels to preserve brightness
On the eye
Deep ruby robe with violet reflections, brilliant and clear throughout.
On the nose
Complex bouquet of fresh red and dark fruits—raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant—with the characteristic Pessac notes of slate, smoke and gunflint minerality.
In the mouth
Elegant and airy on the palate. Fine-grained tannins are supremely digestible. Excellent mineral tension brings freshness and definition. The finish is saline and persistent, with a marked return of small acidulous fruits and smoke.
M. Francois
Haut-Bergey has become a reference point for those seeking authentic, biodynamically farmed wines. At full maturity, this 2021 will prove an ideal companion to caramelised lamb sweetbreads. The estate's commitment to living viticulture is evident in every glass.

CHATEAU HAUT-BERGEY

Situated on the slopes of Léognan in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, Château Haut-Bergey extends across 41 hectares of gravel and sandy soils on Bordeaux's Left Bank. The château traces its origins to the fifteenth century, when it was known as the Maison Noble de Pontey. Acquired in 1991 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard and now led by her son Paul Garcin, it became the first estate in the appellation to achieve Demeter biodynamic certification, a landmark reached in 2014. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the rigour of its biodynamic conversion, the precision of its Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon whites, and the depth of its Cabernet Sauvignon-led reds. A Pessac-Léognan of real character, firmly rooted in its terroir.
