A distinguished Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of finesse and substance

  • This wine marries finesse with structure, offering the characteristic balance that defines the finest Cru Bourgeois Supérieur of the Médoc. The fruit-forward character is underpinned by well-integrated tannins, delivering both elegance and presence on the palate.
  • Classified as a Cru Bourgeois Supérieur, Château la Tour de By represents the upper tier of non-classified Bordeaux, recognised for consistent quality and terroir expression across multiple vintages.
  • The wine displays a fleshy, fruit-driven profile with dark berry character. The ripe tannin structure provides substance without heaviness, making it approachable in youth whilst retaining ageing potential.

In the mouth
The palate is dense and supple, with ripe, well-integrated tannins providing structure without astringency. Dark fruit flavours persist through a long, elegant finish. The wine displays good balance between power and refinement, with a persistent aftertaste.
On the nose
The bouquet opens with dark fruits—blackcurrant and plum—complemented by subtle oak influence. The aromatic profile is restrained and classic, speaking of careful élevage rather than overt wood treatment.
On the eye
Deep ruby-red colour with good intensity and clarity
Breeding
Aged 12 months in French oak barrels.
M. Francois
Château la Tour de By pairs admirably with game terrines, mushroom preparations, and beef dishes of moderate richness. It would also complement aged hard cheeses. The wine is sufficiently structured to benefit from decanting an hour before service, and will develop further complexity over the next five to eight years.
