Family passion, magnificent terroir, singular expression

  • A blanc de blancs of considerable finesse, crafted from a single parcel in the Grand Cru classification. The wine demonstrates the precision and elegance characteristic of Chardonnay-based Champagne at its most refined.
  • Marked by an atypical mineral signature that distinguishes it from more conventional Extra Brut expressions. The salinity and stone-fruit character reflect the chalk-rich soils of the appellation, offering genuine complexity rather than mere dryness.
  • A parcellaire Champagne suited equally to aperitif moments and formal occasions. The structure and ageing potential reward patient cellaring, whilst the freshness invites immediate enjoyment with food or contemplation.

Product features : Thierry Houry Baronette Grand Cru Extra Brut Champagne

Breeding
Ageing on lees: Exceptional, often 6 to 8 years minimum
On the eye
Golden robe with fine, persistent mousse. Bright and luminous in the glass.
On the nose
Direct and composed on the nose, with white stone fruit and citrus notes emerging gradually. A mineral core—flint and chalk dust—underpins the bouquet without overwhelming the delicate fruit expression.
In the mouth
Dry and mineral-driven on the palate, with a distinctive saline finish. The structure is elegant rather than heavy; acidity provides lift and definition. White peach, lemon zest, and a subtle brioche note develop through the mid-palate, concluding with a clean, persistent mineral aftertaste.
M. Francois
A parcellaire Champagne of this calibre deserves attention. Thierry Houry has captured something genuine here—mineral authenticity without affectation. The Extra Brut dosage allows the terroir to speak clearly, and the Grand Cru provenance is evident in the wine's composure and balance. Well worth exploring, whether for the serious collector or the enthusiast seeking something beyond the mainstream.

CHAMPAGNE THIERRY HOURY

Based in Ambonnay, one of Champagne's seventeen Grand Cru villages on the Montagne de Reims, Champagne Thierry Houry tends just 2 hectares of chalk-rooted vines at the heart of the appellation. The Houry family has cultivated this small holding across several generations, working Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to produce grower Champagnes of genuine terroir character. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this House for the precision of its Grand Cru parcels, the typicity of Ambonnay's chalk soils, and the integrity of a family operation working at truly human scale. These are grower Champagnes that speak first and foremost of their village, far removed from the blended anonymity of large-scale négoce.
