One of the world's most revered Saint-Émilion expressions

  • Classified as 1er Grand Cru Classé A, Cheval Blanc stands among the finest expressions of Saint-Émilion. This 2018 vintage demonstrates the estate's commitment to purity and complexity, balancing the structure of a great Médoc with the voluptuousness characteristic of the Right Bank.
  • The wine presents itself with freshness and density, yet never sacrifices elegance for power. Its aromatic profile reveals layers of red and dark fruits, with the distinctive signature of Cabernet Franc—violet and peony—woven throughout the palate.
  • What defines Cheval Blanc is its timelessness. Rather than pursuing brute force, this wine achieves a rare equilibrium: complex yet refined, with a mineral finish that lingers with notes of fresh red fruit. Its consistency across vintages is legendary.

Breeding
16 to 18 months in 100% new oak barrels
On the eye
Intense ruby with violet reflections in youth, evolving towards a deep, lustrous garnet that speaks to considerable phenolic concentration.
On the nose
Complex and layered, with aromas of red and dark fruits. The Cabernet Franc signature emerges clearly: violet and peony notes add aromatic distinction and refinement to the bouquet.
In the mouth
The attack is assured. The palate is rich and dense yet silken in texture, with a finish marked by fresh red fruit and mineral elegance. The wine displays remarkable balance and length.
M. Francois
Cheval Blanc's defining characteristic is its timelessness. Unlike some neighbouring estates that pursue opulence, this wine seeks purity. It achieves the rare feat of being simultaneously complex as a great Médoc and voluptuous as a Libournais wine. Its market value remains remarkably stable—a testament to its consistency, which approaches perfection even in challenging vintages.
