One of the Médoc's most venerable properties

  • Owned by the Borie family since 1978, Grand-Puy Lacoste remains one of the oldest and most respected estates in the Médoc. The family's stewardship has ensured consistent quality and respect for the property's classical winemaking traditions.
  • This 2018 displays remarkable equilibrium: a wine of charm and elegance, with a mineral freshness that carries through to a long, pure and aromatic finish. The balance between structure and refinement is characteristic of the finest Fifth Growths.
  • A wine of sufficient depth and composure to reward cellaring. Those with patience may consider laying down a few bottles to observe how the 2018 develops over the coming decade.

Ripe dark fruits, violet and spice notes combine with a distinctive mineral freshness. The aromatics are well-defined and layered.
On the eye
Deep purple-red, intense and luminous
Breeding
In French oak barrels (fine grain) of which 75% new wood for 16 to 18 months
M. Francois
A wine of classical proportions that pairs beautifully with beef braised in spices. The mineral backbone and refined tannins make it equally suited to game dishes or mature cheeses. At this stage, the wine shows excellent balance; it will continue to develop gracefully over the next 15-20 years.
