A Cru Bourgeois of genuine character and depth

  • This wine develops with considerable grace over time, revealing increasingly complex earthy and mineral notes that speak to the terroir of Haut-Médoc. The structure builds in the glass, rewarding patience and proper cellaring.
  • A remarkably versatile companion to the table, equally at home with roasted game, beef preparations, or fine charcuterie. Its balanced profile makes it a natural choice for varied dining occasions without pretension.
  • Sourced directly through our merchant relationships in Bordeaux, this Cru Bourgeois represents genuine value—the wine speaks for itself without unnecessary markup.

In the mouth
A wine of good structure and balance. The palate shows ripe fruit supported by fine-grained tannins, with a savoury finish that speaks to proper élevage and careful winemaking. Drinking well now, yet capable of further development.
On the nose
Red berries and plum emerge first, followed by gentle spice notes and a discreet oakiness that frames rather than dominates the aromatics. The bouquet develops pleasingly with aeration.
On the eye
Brilliant carmine, with an inviting depth that suggests substance without heaviness
Breeding
Generally between 12 and 15 months in barrel (with a variable proportion of new oak depending on the vintage)
M. Francois
This Malescasse pairs beautifully with roasted game birds—a roasted quail with seasonal vegetables would be an ideal match. The wine's natural acidity and moderate weight complement rather than overpower delicate game preparations. A thoughtful choice for the discerning table.
