A prestigious estate on Saint-Émilion's calcaire plateau

  • Classified as Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the Saint-Émilion hierarchy, Troplong Mondot commands respect amongst the right bank's finest. The château's position on the limestone plateau imparts both power and refinement to its wines.
  • This 2016 displays the house's characteristic intensity: a wine of substance and complexity, yet underpinned by the mineral backbone that distinguishes truly fine Bordeaux. Structured for serious cellaring.
  • Troplong Mondot possesses considerable ageing potential. The 2016 vintage will develop gracefully over two to three decades, rewarding patience with deepening complexity and secondary flavours.

Breeding
In oak barrels (including a substantial proportion of new wood) for 18 months
On the eye
Deep purple robe, nearly opaque at the centre, with vivid violet highlights at the rim.
On the nose
Dark fruits dominate—blackcurrant and plum—with secondary notes of truffle, liquorice and toasted oak. The bouquet unfolds gradually, revealing layers of complexity.
In the mouth
Intense and profound on the palate. Fine-grained tannins provide excellent structure without harshness. The wine carries excellent length, finishing with mineral precision.
M. Francois
Troplong Mondot is a wine of temperament and character. Its paradox lies in its balance: massif and sun-drenched, yet anchored by calcaire minerality that confers genuine breeding. A collector's wine suited to fine gastronomy and distinguished cheese selections. Ideal for those who appreciate the serious, uncompromising expression of the right bank.

CHATEAU TROPLONG MONDOT

Château Troplong Mondot stands at the highest point of the Saint-Émilion appellation — 106 metres above sea level — across 33 hectares of clay-limestone soils with flint. Founded in 1745 and promoted to 1er Grand Cru Classé B in 2006, the château reached its zenith under Christine Valette-Pariente, whose 1990 vintage earned a remarkable 98/100 from Robert Parker. Since 2017, the French reinsurance group SCOR has ensured continuity, with the estate now engaged in organic conversion. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its exceptional terroir, the precision of its Merlot-led blends, and a quality trajectory confirmed across vintage after vintage. A Saint-Émilion built for the cellar.
