In the mouth
The palate reveals good structure and balance, with a long, velvety finish that demonstrates the wine's breeding. Tannins are present but refined, allowing the fruit to shine through with clarity and persistence.
On the nose
Blackcurrant and redcurrant notes predominate, accompanied by subtle spice and a mineral undertone that speaks to the gravelly terroir. The bouquet is composed and inviting rather than showy.
On the eye
Deep garnet, with the intensity characteristic of well-ripened Graves fruit
Breeding
Aged in barrels for 14 to 18 months, approximately half in new oak
M. Francois
This is a wine of substance: rounded in character, with genuine fruit expression and the material weight expected of a Grand Cru Classé. The 2017 shows admirable balance between richness and restraint, with the gravelly terroir evident throughout. A serious, well-made Graves that merits cellaring.
