A surprising expression of Sancerre Pinot Noir

  • Beautifully structured red wine with fine fruit definition. The Pinot Noir here shows discipline and balance, characteristic of quality Sancerre production.
  • Complex and generously proportioned, this wine possesses genuine ageing potential. The structure suggests it will develop further complexity over the next five to eight years.
  • Sourced directly from the domaine, this represents genuine value for a wine of this calibre and provenance.

In the mouth
Ample and generous on the palate with good weight and balance. Silky tannins provide structure without aggression, leading to a finish with a gentle spice note that lingers pleasantly.
On the nose
Attractive bouquet of blackcurrant and black cherry, with subtle undertones of dark berry fruit. The aromatics are clean and well-defined, typical of well-made Loire Pinot Noir.
On the eye
Bright, clear garnet with a fine ruby edge.
Breeding
Aged in 400-litre barrels for 12 months.
M. Francois
This Sancerre will serve you well with roasted duck, pan-seared cod with seasonal vegetables, or a good beef course. It's the sort of wine that rewards a proper table setting—neither demanding nor shy. I'd suggest opening it at cellar temperature, around 14–15°C, to appreciate its structure fully.

DOMAINE SAGET LA PERRIERE

Based in Pouilly-sur-Loire since 1790, Domaine Saget la Perrière spans 360 hectares across the Loire Valley's finest appellations, from the Kimmeridgian clays of Pouilly to the flint soils of Sancerre. Now in its ninth generation, Jean-Louis, Arnaud and Laurent Saget have steered the entire estate to organic certification and HVE, working with Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pinot Noir. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the rigour of its organic commitment at scale, the clarity of its terroir expression, and the consistent quality of its whites across Pouilly and Sancerre. A dependable Loire reference, equally at home in the cellar or on the table.
