In the mouth
The palate is harmonious and well-structured, with ripe blackcurrant and plum fruit supported by refined tannins. The acidity provides freshness and definition, whilst the finish is long and composed, promising excellent evolution in bottle.
On the nose
Aromas of blackcurrant and cassis dominate, with secondary notes of liquorice, dried fig and subtle spice. The bouquet develops further with aeration, revealing layers of dark fruit and mineral character.
On the eye
Deep ruby red, with a lustrous intensity reflecting the vintage's concentration
Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 16 months.
M. Francois
A wine of considerable merit for the table. Pontet-Canet 2015 pairs beautifully with roasted and braised red meats—a beef daube or slow-cooked lamb would be ideal companions. The wine's structure and depth also suit game and rich sauces. Approach with patience; the wine is entering a period of optimal drinking, yet will continue to develop for many years.
