List of products by brand CHATEAU FARGUEIROL

Sitting at the highest point of the northern plateau, Château Fargueirol covers 30 hectares of classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape terroir — rolled galets roulés over clay, with Urgonian limestone to the west. The Révoltier family connection to this estate stretches back to 1340; after a long period of abandonment following the Revolution, Joseph Révoltier reclaimed the property in 1974 from just 10 hectares of neglected vines, steadily rebuilding it to its present 30 hectares within the AOP. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this estate for the integrity of its terroir, the discipline of its HVE farming, and the straightforward character of its reds and whites from classic Rhône varieties. A reliable address for those who want Châteauneuf-du-Pape without artifice.

At the summit of the northern plateau, Château Fargueirol occupies one of the highest points in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. Across 30 HVE-certified hectares, Pierre and Romain Révoltier steward a property whose documented history reaches back to the fourteenth century — a rare continuity in the southern Rhône.

Seven centuries of family history

The name Fargueirol appears in the archives of Châteauneuf-du-Pape as early as 1340, already linked to the Révoltier family. Like many estates in the region, the property fell into neglect in the aftermath of the French Revolution, lying largely dormant for the better part of two centuries. It was Joseph Révoltier who, in 1974, made the decision to reclaim it — purchasing 10 hectares of run-down vines and beginning the patient work of restoration. Over the following decades, the estate was gradually extended to its current 30 hectares, all within the AOP Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Today, Pierre and Romain Révoltier, the next generation, continue that work with the same long-term outlook that has defined the family's relationship with this land for generations.

Terroir: galets, clay and Urgonian limestone

Positioned on the northern plateau of the appellation — one of its most elevated points — Château Fargueirol benefits from a terroir that is both classic and varied. The dominant soils are the famous galets roulés: large, heat-retaining rolled pebbles sitting over a clay substratum, which moderate water stress and reflect warmth back onto the vine canopy during the growing season. To the west of the estate, the geology shifts to Urgonian limestone — fragmented, pale, and free-draining — lending a different mineral tension to the wines produced from those parcels. Together, these two soil types give the estate a natural diversity that the Révoltiers exploit thoughtfully across their range. The northern plateau exposure also brings slightly cooler conditions than the lower-lying parts of the appellation, preserving freshness and aromatic definition in the finished wines.

HVE certification and viticulture

Château Fargueirol holds Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) certification, the French national standard recognising exemplary environmental practice across biodiversity, plant protection, fertilisation management, and water resource management. For the Révoltier family, this is not a marketing exercise but a reflection of how the estate has long been farmed — with attention to the living balance of the vineyard and a commitment to preserving the quality of the terroir for future generations.

The wines: reds and whites from classic Rhône varieties

Château Fargueirol produces both red and white Châteauneuf-du-Pape from a palette of traditional Rhône grape varieties:

  • Red Châteauneuf-du-Pape — built on Grenache, with Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault contributing structure, spice and depth. The galets roulés terroir delivers the warmth and generosity characteristic of the appellation, while the northern plateau position retains freshness and length.
  • White Châteauneuf-du-Pape — produced from Clairette and Roussanne, the estate's whites offer the aromatic complexity and textural richness that make white Châteauneuf-du-Pape one of the southern Rhône's most rewarding — and most underrated — styles.

Why we have selected Château Fargueirol

At Halles Quercamps, we look for estates where terroir, history and rigour align — and Château Fargueirol delivers on all three. The Révoltier family's seven-century connection to this land in Châteauneuf-du-Pape is not a marketing narrative: it is a verifiable fact that speaks to a depth of rootedness rarely encountered even in this storied appellation. The HVE certification confirms that the estate is farmed with genuine environmental seriousness, and the diversity of soils — galets roulés and Urgonian limestone — gives the wines a complexity that goes beyond the appellation's sun-drenched reputation. We recommend these wines to enthusiasts who want Châteauneuf-du-Pape in its most direct, terroir-honest expression: the reds are well-suited to lamb, game and aged cheeses; the whites are a natural match for white meats, river fish and dishes with a hint of saffron or fennel.
