A century of cooperative winemaking at Pinet

Cave de l'Ormarine has remained rooted in Pinet throughout a full century of Languedoc viticulture. That continuity is no accident: the village sits at the heart of the AOP Picpoul de Pinet, and the estate has shaped the appellation's identity as much as the appellation has shaped the estate. In 2022, marking its centenary, the cooperative consolidated its position by merging with five neighbouring cooperatives — including Olonzac — to become the undisputed leader of AOP Picpoul de Pinet. Today, 650 growers contribute to a collective enterprise that spans 3,880 hectares, one of the largest vineyard surfaces in the Languedoc-Roussillon region.

Terroir: clay-limestone, red sandstone, and the Étang de Thau

The vineyards of Cave de l'Ormarine stretch across a varied landscape, from the foothills of the Cévennes down to the Mediterranean coast. Two soil types predominate: Jurassic clay-limestone, which lends structure and mineral tension to the whites, and red sandstone, which brings warmth and body to the reds and rosés.
