List of products by brand CHÂTEAU BRONDELLE
Château Brondelle extends across 45 hectares at Langon, in the southern reaches of the Gironde, on a clay-gravel ridge that lends both its red and white wines a clear, legible terroir signature rooted in the Bordeaux Graves tradition.
A vineyard with deep roots in the Graves
The vineyard at Château Brondelle can be traced back to the nineteenth century, occupying the slopes of Langon at the southern tip of the Graves. It was in 1927 that Louis Turtaut acquired the property and gave it its name, establishing the foundations of what would become a serious family estate. The decisive viticultural chapter, however, opened in 1968, when the Belloc family began shaping the estate's identity in earnest — defining the grape varieties, the style, and the ambition that still characterise the château today.
The Belloc family and a modern chapter
In 1988, Jean-Noël and Muriel Belloc took the helm of Château Brondelle, bringing fresh energy and a clear long-term vision. Under their stewardship, the estate has grown in both surface and reputation. A significant milestone came in 2013, when Château Brondelle merged with the neighbouring Château Ludeman La Côte, consolidating the holding and reinforcing the estate's position among the reliable addresses of the Bordeaux appellation around Langon.
Terroir: clay, gravel, and the character of Langon
The 45-hectare vineyard sits on a classic croupe argilo-graveleuse — a gently rounded clay-gravel ridge — a soil type that drains well, warms readily, and imparts the structured backbone associated with the finest Graves terroirs. The exposed slopes encourage even ripening across the estate's range of grape varieties: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot for the reds; Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon for the whites. This diversity of varieties, matched to a coherent terroir, underpins the consistency that has made Château Brondelle a dependable name in the Bordeaux appellation.
The wines of Château Brondelle
The château produces two distinct families of wine under the Bordeaux appellation:
- Red Bordeaux — blends of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot, offering structured, fruit-driven wines with the gravelly grip typical of the Langon terroir.
- White Bordeaux — Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon blends, producing dry, focused whites with a lively freshness and good aromatic definition.
Why we have selected Château Brondelle
At Halles Quercamps, we have followed Château Brondelle over many vintages and have been consistently impressed by the reliability of its range. In a region where quality can vary sharply between estates, this château delivers vintage after vintage with a frankness of expression that we find genuinely satisfying. The gravelly terroir speaks clearly in the reds — there is structure and grip without heaviness — while the whites offer the kind of crisp, dry precision that pairs beautifully with fish, shellfish, and the classic dishes of south-west France. We recommend this château particularly to lovers of classic Bordeaux who appreciate honest, terroir-driven wines at a sensible level, and to those building a cellar around dependable, food-friendly bottles. The reds will also reward a few years of patience.
