A refined Graves that rewards the discerning palate

  • This is a fruit-forward, elegant expression of Graves, crafted with restraint and balance. The wine displays the classic character of the appellation without pretension, offering genuine pleasure to those who appreciate subtlety over bombast.
  • The fruit derives from vines of some thirty years' maturity, lending depth and complexity to the final wine. This age of vineyard allows for concentration whilst maintaining freshness, a hallmark of serious Graves production.
  • The wine's structure and tannin profile make it a natural companion to red meat and game. It will also prove an excellent match for mature cheeses, particularly those with some character and age of their own.

In the mouth
The palate is round and well-balanced, with supple tannins that integrate seamlessly. The mid-palate shows good weight without heaviness, finishing with a clean, mineral persistence characteristic of the terroir.
On the nose
The bouquet is distinctly fruity, with red berry notes predominating. Secondary aromas of tobacco leaf and graphite emerge with aeration, suggesting the wine's capacity to develop further in bottle.
On the eye
Ruby-garnet in colour, with good clarity and a fine intensity that speaks to careful viticulture.
Breeding
Aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
M. Francois
Château Brondelle 2018 represents honest, well-made Graves. It will serve admirably alongside roasted red meats and game, and deserves consideration as an accompaniment to well-aged hard cheeses. The wine is approachable now, yet possesses sufficient structure to reward cellaring for a further five to seven years should one wish to observe its evolution.

CHÂTEAU BRONDELLE

Situated at Langon in the Gironde, Château Brondelle covers 45 hectares on a characteristic clay-gravel ridge, producing both red and white wines under the Bordeaux appellation. Founded in 1927 by Louis Turtaut on a vineyard with roots in the nineteenth century, the château found its definitive viticultural direction under the Belloc family from 1968; Jean-Noël and Muriel Belloc took over in 1988, and a merger with Château Ludeman La Côte in 2013 consolidated the estate further. At Halles Quercamps, we have selected this château for the consistency of its blends, the honest expression of its gravelly terroir, and the coherent range it offers between structured reds and crisp dry whites. A grounded Bordeaux address, without pretension.
