Petit Manseng

The quintessence of Jurançon's finest terroir and heritage varieties

  • A genuinely rewarding wine that balances richness with elegance. The Petit Manseng grape, native to the Jurançon appellation, delivers complexity rarely found in sweet wines of this calibre.
  • Harvested at the turn of the year, when noble rot and late-season concentration reach their peak. This timing is fundamental to the wine's character and longevity.
  • A wine built for the cellar. Jurançon moelleux of this quality can age gracefully for decades, evolving in ways that reward patience and proper storage.

Product features : Cauhape Quintessence Petit Manseng 1999 White 75cl

Breeding
Fermentation and ageing in new oak barrels for approximately 2 years
On the eye
Brilliant golden hue with amber reflections
On the nose
Ripe apricot and roasted citrus notes, with hints of praline and preserved medlar. The bouquet is complex and layered, developing secondary aromas with time.
In the mouth
Remarkable balance between richness and acidity. Tense and supple in equal measure, with roasted and subtle chocolatey notes that linger through a long, refined finish.
M. Francois
Jurançon moelleux of this pedigree deserves proper consideration. Pair it with a fine dessert—perhaps a tart with stone fruit or a light almond cake—or simply savour it as a meditation wine. The structure here is such that it will reward cellaring. I've always maintained that these wines represent exceptional value for serious collectors.
