A Grand Cru of understated elegance and genuine charm

  • This wine reveals itself through layers of red fruit and subtle spice, with the refinement characteristic of the finest Burgundy. The structure is generous yet graceful, offering both immediate pleasure and the promise of continued development.
  • The 2017 vintage demonstrates considerable cellaring potential. Properly stored, this wine will evolve gracefully over the next fifteen to twenty years, deepening in complexity and integration.
  • Sourced from the northern reaches of the Côte de Nuits, Charmes-Chambertin benefits from Gevrey-Chambertin's ideal exposure and terroir. The appellation's limestone-rich soils impart distinctive mineral character and finesse.

Product features : Domaine Faiveley - Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru 2017

In the mouth
Generous and elegant on the palate, with silky tannins that frame the fruit without dominating. The wine shows good structure and balance, with a persistent finish that echoes the red fruit and spice of the nose.
On the nose
The bouquet unfolds with red berries—cherry and raspberry—alongside discreet spice notes and floral undertones. The aromatics are refined rather than exuberant, suggesting careful élevage and natural maturation.
On the eye
Deep ruby robe with subtle garnet highlights at the rim
Breeding
Aged in French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months.
M. Francois
This wine pairs beautifully with game preparations—a civet of hare or terrine of venison would be ideal companions. The wine's tannin structure and acidity complement rich, savoury dishes admirably. It would also suit roasted poultry and aged cheeses. Decant thirty minutes before service to allow the wine to open fully.
